Uit de Hoogte was commissioned by 'vibetribe' to make a track based on an illustration by Cigarra Entinta. The result is ‘entiwat’. Cigarra Entinta is a Colombian artist living in Ghent. Uit de Hoogte sampled a vocal chant of a Nukak mother and build a tribal house track around it. The Nukak-Maku are the last Indigenous people to be contacted by mainstream Colombian society, and one of the last nomadic tribes in the country. An “entiwat” is a special ritual where different tribes join and in which they dance face to face, striking and verbally injuring each other until the ritual reaches a climactic moment in which they all embrace, weeping while they remember their ancestors and express affection.
